Yoyogi National Stadium is located in the Harajuku district of Tokyo, near Yoyogi Park. Designed by the renowned architect Kenzo Tange (1913 – 2005), the venue earned international acclaim for its innovative high-tension suspended roof, one of the building’s defining features. The main hall has a total capacity of 12,934 people, while the smaller hall accommodates 4,002. The entire site covers an area of 91,022 square metres. Over the years, the stadium has also become one of Tokyo’s premier concert arenas, attracting major stars such as Ayumi Hamasaki, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Britney Spears, and many more.

History
Yoyogi National Stadium was constructed for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. The project began in February 1963 and was completed in October 1964. At the time, it was used for the swimming, platform diving, and basketball events. The International Olympic Committee recognized it as one of the finest sports buildings in the world. It also served as a model for the Olympic Stadium in Munich (1972). During the 2020/2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, the stadium was once again used as a sports venue. In 2021, Yoyogi National Stadium was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
