Yasaka Pagoda in Kyoto
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 63/100high-light in kyoto
With its height of 46m the Yasaka Pagoda is majestically hovering over the roofs of the historical Higashiyama District in Kyoto. It is incredible that the foundation of the third highest wooden building in the city is dating back to 592. The whole area is full of great sightseeing spots like the Kodai-ji or Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but the pagoda was my personal high-light.
