This bridge was leading me to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Shirakawago with its famous Gassho-zukuri farmhouses and beautiful rice paddies. It was great to see that these traditional houses were still used by the local people and not just as a big open air museum. The location in the mountainous and remote part of the Gifu Prefecture was just gorgeous. I came here by bus from Takayama.
