On my way to Aomori in the northern part of Honshu I had the chance to visit the beautiful Towada Lake. It is the largest caldera lake on the main island. I started there my hiking tour along the Oirase-gawa river through untouched nature. The area gets really popular during the autumn season, when the colour of the leaves turn red, yellow and orange. It is comparable with the Indian summer in Canada.
