Narai
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 14/100old preserved post town
Once I stepped out of the train in Narai. I felt like I made a jump back in time to the Edo period (1603 - 1867). Narai is a old post town along the Nakasendo Route within the Nagano prefecture. I strolled through the streets there being amazed by the old preserved buildings. The scenery with the surrounding mountains was just breathtakingly beautiful. After a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants I got ready for my hiking tour which brought me to Tsumago, Magome and the Kiso Valley.
